Stock Market Tycoon: Challenge
Help Files
What is the aim of the game?
Stock Market Tycoon: Challenge is a multiplayer competitive share trading game, with seasons lasting for one month. Players are ranked based on their earnings during the competition.
Your goal is to try to make more profitable trades than other players including making more profit from dividends.
The markets are open for trading 24 hours a day during the season, and dividends are paid daily in 4 instalments every 6 hours. This makes each season duration effectively 28-31 years of growth.
How do you buy and sell shares?
To buy and sell shares, click on the "TRADE" button in the left navigation menu, or select any stock by clicking on it.
Then, when you are in the detail panel for the share, you can click BUY or SELL, and then select the desired quantity of shares you want to trade, or click BUY MAX or SELL MAX to trade the maximum number of shares that you can (at the available market price).
What information can help me be profitable?
There is a lot of information available in Stock Market Tycoon: Challenge and some of it can be quite contradictive.
Some traders will want to trade based on current movements in stock prices, while some traders will want to get the best long-term value from their portfolio, thus seeking higher dividends.
As a rule for the new trader, seeking higher dividends is probably the easiest strategy for long-term gains.
How often are dividends paid in Stock Market Tycoon?
Dividends are quoted as dividends PER DAY. They are paid the form of 4 interim dividends every 6 hours. Thus, if a dividend is paying a dividend of $10.00, you can expect to receive an interim dividend of about $2.50 every 6 hours.
Please note that dividends can change based on company performance, so keep an eye on the Market News.
What is the "Season Reset" that I see in the top right?
The "Season Reset" is the countdown until the end of the trading season. Stock Market Tycoon: Challenge is run in a series of season competitions, each lasting one month. At the end of the season, the market closes and all players' portfolios and balances are compared and players are given a rating based on how they performed compared to all other active traders for the season.
Once the ratings have been calculated and any awards have been given, all players' current cash balances and stock portfolios are reset, and everybody starts again.
This way, if you have a bad season all is not lost; you can start on an even playing field against everyone next season.
What are the advantages of Premium News?
Premium News reporters keep a much closer eye on the markets and have a higher chance of reporting any changes in a company's economic performance and situation.
Premium News subscribers have the ability to get the jump on other investors by acting on breaking news relating to a company's stock movement and making that trade before others have a chance to react.
"There are three ways to make a living in this business: be first; be smarter; or cheat. Now, I don't cheat. And although I like to think we have some pretty smart people in this building, it sure is a hell of a lot easier to just be first." - Margin Call.
(Also. Don't cheat. The Game Staff will punish your account.)
